Human shock absorber – Anatomical Engineering

The human body is a biological facsimile of a telescopic shock-absorber. The construction details of the body are almost wholly concerned with verticality and ambulation, and the shock-load absorption [ dampening ] pertaining. The raison-d’etre of the metallic shock-absorber is effective only as long as it’s original LENGTH OF SUSPENSION TRAVEL is maintained. In other words, if the shock [engineering short for shock-absorber ] is damaged in any way there will be interference with its telescopic length of suspension-travel, and therefore it’s dampening attributes. Similarly, if the human body loses length of suspension-travel, there is loss of dampening, with all manner of mayhem resulting.

Curiously, we are not born with the best capabilities to grow unimpeded to our top suspension-travel potential. Then, in childhood, not only are we neglected for suspension-travel programming, but subjected to all manner of absurd factors that LIMIT our suspension travel; i.e., ignorance of the teething syndrome, immunisations on weak kids, sitting endless hours in school, total unawareness of keeping the juvenile skeleton in the correct growth position, necessary but misguided emergency medical treatments for appendicitis, tonsils, asthma, Chrones, mental problems, etc, and, but not all, absence of proper strengthening procedures. We arrive at adulthood minus at least 20% of our potential length of suspension-travel. Even top athletes are not exempt.

If surviving the last paragraph, one then embarks on adult life, unaware of what terrible fates await. By one ten thousandths of a millimetre by one ten thousandths of a millimetre ongoing, our suspension travel is shortened unnoticed. Maybe not quite unnoticed. Oh, I’m a bit shorter now than I was, says he or she laughing without realising exactly what a valuable asset they are losing. Gravity, car seats, inappropriate clothing, strange diets, curious cures such as Homeopathy, excessive yoga, straining at sports, falls, worries, infections, medical treatments sometimes necessary but always damaging, all contribute in shrinking and hardening the body.

It seems so natural that an old and frail person sitting in a wheelchair with water oozing out of eyes and mouth is considered just another old-ager. In fact the water oozing out of their eyes and mouth is suspension water that cannot enter the deforming skeleton, and hence overflows from the lacrymal and salivary glands.

Brittleness, frailness, and shrinkage, and most of the other catastrophes such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, ALS, stroke, glaucoma, atherosclerosis, motor neurone, et.al., are the dreadful culminations of human suspension- travel failure.

How much suspension-travel have you lost?
